Jaipur, April 7 (NationPress) A new political uproar has emerged in Rajasthan on Monday following the visit of Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully to the Ram Mandir during the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami.

In a controversial turn of events, BJP leader and former MLA Gyandev Ahuja allegedly sprinkled Gangajal (holy water) at the temple right after Jully's visit, igniting a fierce backlash from Congress leaders and heightening political tensions in the state.

Reacting sharply to Ahuja's actions, Congress representatives indicated that the incident showcases the BJP's discriminatory attitude towards Dalits.

“I raised the voice of Dalits in the Assembly and initiated a campaign against untouchability. Yet, the BJP’s attitude is such that when I visit a temple, they resort to purifying it with Gangajal simply because I am a Dalit,” Jully expressed on social media.

“This is not merely an affront to my personal faith but a proclamation that fosters the crime of untouchability,” he remarked.

The Rajasthan Leader of Opposition further challenged the BJP’s position, questioning: “Does the BJP harbor such animosity towards Dalits that they cannot stand to see us pray? Are BJP leaders the only ones entitled to worship God? The Chief Minister and BJP state president must clarify if they support such acts of so-called purification when Dalits enter temples.”

Sharing similar sentiments, Congress state head Govind Singh Dotasra stated, “The essence of the BJP is filled with animosity, malice, and envy towards Dalits.”

Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, also condemned the occurrence, labeling it a “repugnant act” and demanding accountability.

“This narrow-mindedness is intolerable in a civilized society in the 21st century. The BJP leadership must clarify if they endorse Gyandev Ahuja’s actions. Will they take any steps against him?” Gehlot questioned.

In defense of his actions, Gyandev Ahuja made another contentious remark aimed at Jully.

“Tikaram Jully, who opposes Sanatan and Hindutva, visited Karni Mata on Sunday and showed up at the Ram Mandir. He should feel ashamed. I will visit the place he frequented and fulfill my vow to cleanse it with Gangajal,” Ahuja reportedly stated.
