New Delhi, Aug 10 (NationPress) Following the revelation by Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, who announced that the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully shot down five Pakistani fighter jets along with a significant surveillance aircraft during Operation Sindoor, BJP leaders have vocally defended the military while criticizing opposition figures who are demanding proof.
In response to this declaration, BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal remarked, "Those who challenge the valor of our armed forces and seek evidence must come to terms with the reality: the manner in which our weapons neutralized their missiles is an immense achievement. Yet, some individuals in the nation continuously refuse to recognize this success and persist in their demand for proof."
Similarly, BJP MP Yogendra Chandoliya emphasized, "When our Air Chief Marshal Amarjeet Singh claims that we have brought down five fighter jets and one large aircraft, it is crucial to convey this because the Congress and other opposition parties are casting aspersions on Operation Sindoor."
This discussion follows a significant announcement made by Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh during the Air Chief Marshal L.M. Katre Memorial Lecture in Bengaluru, where he confirmed that the IAF shot down six Pakistani aircraft during Operation Sindoor, comprising five fighter jets and a high-value surveillance platform, likely an AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) aircraft.
"We have confirmed five kills and one large aircraft, which could be either an ELINT or an AEW&C aircraft, engaged at a distance of approximately 300 km. This represents, in fact, the largest recorded surface-to-air kill that we can discuss," Singh noted.
"These are the before and after images of the destruction we inflicted at Bahawalpur, the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). There’s minimal collateral damage here—the neighboring structures remain largely intact," he stated, showcasing high-resolution visuals that affirmed the precision of the strikes.
Operation Sindoor, initiated on May 7, was India’s measured response to the Pahalgam terror attack that resulted in the loss of 26 lives in April.
