Kolkata, Sep 5 (NationPress) Fashion designer-turned-politician -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Asansol (Dakshin) constituency in West Burdwan district of West Bengal -- Agnimitra Paul was hospitalized on Friday after experiencing a mild brain stroke.
She was admitted to a private medical facility located near the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass in east Kolkata during the afternoon.
According to her close aides, the doctors have decided to keep her under observation for the next 48 hours.
Fortunately, they also reported that there are currently no signs of any affected body parts or organs due to the stroke.
The fashion designer-turned-politician is able to communicate with family members at this time.
It is noteworthy that on the last day of the special session of the West Bengal Assembly, Paul was among the BJP legislators actively protesting, even entering the Well of the House while Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spoke on the motion regarding the harassment of Bengali-speaking individuals in BJP-led states.
She was one of five BJP legislators suspended from the assembly within a span of less than two hours on Thursday.
Additionally, two of the suspended legislators, namely Shankar Ghosh, the Chief Whip of the BJP’s legislative party in the West Bengal assembly, and fellow party legislator Bankim Ghosh, were also hospitalized.
BJP national president and Union Minister J.P. Nadda reached out to the opposition leader in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, to inquire about the health conditions of the two hospitalized party legislators.
J.P. Nadda also requested photographs and videos of their altercation with Assembly marshals as evidence.
The BJP legislators were protesting the earlier decision to suspend the leader of the opposition in the Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, for the session on Tuesday.
