Agnimitra Paul: West Bengal Ready for BJP-Led Change
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Asansol (West Bengal), April 9 (NationPress) BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul confidently stated on Thursday that the residents of West Bengal are primed for a political transition and will support the Bharatiya Janata Party for the advancement and progress of the state.
In an interview with IANS, Paul articulated that the citizens of Bengal are determined to establish a BJP government, highlighting that the past 15 years under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party, the Trinamool Congress, have been characterized by “injustice and harassment.”
“The populace of Bengal has resolved to bring a BJP-led governance for the state’s growth and advancement. For the last 15 years, Mamata Banerjee and her faction have deceived us,” she remarked.
She noted the significance of the Prime Minister’s visit to Asansol, calling it a momentous occasion. “After many years, the Prime Minister has returned to the sacred territory of Asansol. It fills us with immense pride and joy that PM Modi is visiting once more,” she commented.
Regarding the Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill, Paul affirmed the Central government’s dedication to women’s empowerment. She stated that the Prime Minister has persistently aimed at uplifting women and ensuring their active participation in governance.
“The Prime Minister and the Central government are consistently supportive of women. At all times, the Prime Minister aspires for women to progress,” she highlighted.
In a direct challenge to opposition parties, especially those under the INDIA coalition, including the Trinamool Congress, Paul mentioned that any resistance to the bill would reveal their true stance on women’s rights. “If they oppose this bill, then the women of Bengal and the entire nation will discern how much these leaders genuinely advocate for women and how much they oppose them,” she asserted.
Addressing issues concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Paul expressed gratitude towards the Election Commission and officials, including Gyanesh Kumar, for their initiatives. Nevertheless, she claimed that irregularities in the process were a result of pressure from the state government.
“The responsibility for the removal of valid voters’ names lies squarely with Mamata Banerjee, as her officials are functioning as BLOs, AEROs, and EROs. Due to her exerted pressure, uploads were obstructed, and the confusion that has arisen is a consequence of her administration,” Paul alleged.
She further accused the state machinery of lacking cooperation in the SIR process, alleging that the ruling party is trying to benefit from discrepancies in voter lists. As per her, such manipulations have been ongoing for over 15 years, but the BJP remains hopeful of overcoming these obstacles in the forthcoming elections.
