Key Takeaways
Asansol, April 9 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a fierce critique of the Trinamool Congress government on Thursday, asserting that the ruling party's associated syndicate and mafia have been exploiting the state's resources. He cautioned that these wrongdoers will face accountability and consequences following the election results on May 4.
During his second rally in Asansol, Prime Minister Modi held previous administrations, from Congress to Trinamool Congress, responsible for West Bengal's shameful decline from prosperity to poverty. He emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) offers the only viable solution to the growing troubles in this election-bound state.
He noted that since Independence, West Bengal was once the largest contributor to India's economy, but it has now diminished significantly. "On a scale of Rs 100, it contributed Rs 12 post-Independence; today, that figure has dropped to Rs 5.5," he remarked, criticizing the Trinamool Congress for its 15 years of governance that led to economic downturn.
Prime Minister Modi accused the Mamata Banerjee administration of dragging the state back to the 'dark ages', asserting that for West Bengal to progress, it must be liberated from Trinamool Congress' control.
“To ensure Bengal’s advancement, it is crucial to break free from the Trinamool Congress, as the entire nation is progressing rapidly, while Trinamool Congress is regressing Bengal,” he stated.
“The era of Trinamool Congress is concluded. The incoming government will be a double-engine government led by BJP. After May 4, West Bengal will commence a new chapter of development,” he declared.
Reflecting on the rich legacy of Asansol and Durgapur, vital industrial areas of West Bengal, Prime Minister Modi reminisced that they were once the heart of the state and a major commercial hub attracting workers nationwide.
“From bicycles to railways, paper to steel, aluminum to glass, there was an extensive network of factories here. Yet today, industries are abandoning this region, forcing local youth to leave their homes,” he lamented.
He also pointed out that the coal mines, once pivotal to India's growth, have been plundered by the syndicate and mafias linked to the Trinamool Congress.
Making a passionate appeal to voters, PM Modi urged the people to make informed choices in the upcoming state elections, assuring them that they would not be misled again, as they desire a 'performing' government with a proven track record.
Highlighting various initiatives launched by the Centre, the Prime Minister mentioned that two Vande Bharat and two Amrit Bharat projects have been introduced in this region, along with a direct Asansol-Bokaro train connection, promising to further enhance developmental projects.
“This election is about revitalizing Asansol's industrial heritage, freeing the state from 'Mafia Raj,' and this can only be achieved with a BJP government,” he emphasized at the rally, receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience.
On his extensive election tour of West Bengal, Prime Minister Modi characterized the Mamata Banerjee regime as a 'heartless administration' and asserted that this election will result in the removal of the current government.
He also accused the Mamata Banerjee administration of fostering an atmosphere of fear similar to that experienced during the Left's governance, asserting that the recent Malda incident, where judicial officers were harassed by unruly elements, will serve as a decisive blow to the Trinamool Congress.
