Kolkata, April 19 (NationPress) On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that the tribal-majority regions in West Bengal have regressed significantly during the past 15 years under the Trinamool Congress administration. This statement was made during a campaign rally in the tribal-heavy Purulia district, marking his second address of the day.

“Over the last 15 years of Trinamool Congress governance, the tribal zones in West Bengal have continually deteriorated. The state of educational institutions, transportation infrastructure, and water supply systems in these areas is deplorable. Illegal mining activities rampant in these tribal regions have further exacerbated the situation. In places such as Ayodhya Hills and Sitakund within Purulia, residents are suffering from severe water shortages. Farmers find themselves in distress, and numerous development projects are stalled due to the inhuman actions of the state government,” the Prime Minister stated.

He highlighted that the Union government has established a dedicated ministry for tribal welfare. “During the time of the Bharatiya Janata Party, India appointed its first tribal president. Additionally, tribal Chief Ministers were elected in states like Odisha and Assam under BJP leadership,” he noted.

Despite the sweltering heat, PM Modi expressed his excitement over the crowd's enthusiasm at the Purulia rally, interpreting it as a sign that the BJP is poised to gain power in West Bengal after the upcoming Assembly elections.

“The past 15 years have been marked by corruption and intimidation, instilling fear in every household in West Bengal. This time, the BJP will claim governance here, and we will secure a significant majority. The crowd's response is a clear indication of this,” he asserted.

He went on to criticize the TMC government's approach to tribal communities, claiming it has been consistently unjust. Furthermore, Modi accused the state administration and the Trinamool Congress of obstructing the execution of Central projects, including vital railway initiatives.

“It is crucial to defeat the Trinamool Congress to advance those projects. You have a BJP Lok Sabha representative from Purulia. This time, ensure that all your legislators from this district belong to the BJP. You have entrusted me with the role of Prime Minister; now you must empower someone from the BJP as the new Chief Minister,” PM Modi concluded.

Point of View

It's crucial to balance perspectives. PM Modi's remarks highlight significant issues in tribal areas under TMC governance, emphasizing the need for accountability and change. The focus on development and welfare for marginalized communities remains essential in political discussions.
