PM Modi Appeals to Voters in Bengal, Pledges Economic Revitalization
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, Feb 23 (NationPress) In a strategic move ahead of the crucial Assembly elections, the West Bengal chapter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated the widespread distribution of an open letter authored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The letter, written in both Bengali and Hindi, aims to connect with voters.
Within the letter, the Prime Minister criticizes the governance of Mamata Banerjee and the ruling Trinamool Congress, alleging that they are obstructing citizens from accessing benefits of centrally funded initiatives. He asserts that, despite the state's administrative hurdles, many individuals have still managed to reap the rewards of these programs.
“In just a few months, the electoral destiny of West Bengal will be determined. Your informed decision will shape the future of the upcoming generations in the state. The people of West Bengal have endured deprivation, which pains my heart. Thus, from the depths of my heart, I make a vow today: to restore a developed and prosperous West Bengal,” the letter proclaims.
Further along, Modi enumerates various welfare and development schemes launched since 2014 by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) under his leadership, claiming these initiatives have positively impacted individuals across various sectors in the state, despite the alleged lack of cooperation from the state authorities.
“Following Independence, West Bengal was a cornerstone of India’s economy. Today, however, it saddens me to witness the ailing state of its economy. For over six decades, West Bengal has suffered due to persistent mismanagement and the promotion of appeasement politics. Educated young people are compelled to seek opportunities elsewhere due to a scarcity of jobs, while women live in constant fear of losing their dignity,” Modi articulated.
He also draws upon the rich heritage of icons such as Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo, Rabindranath Tagore, and Subhas Chandra Bose, highlighting that a state that once produced such luminaries is now grappling with issues like alleged illegal immigration, women's safety concerns, and economic downturns.
“But how long will you endure this state of affairs? Change is now imperative. The livelihoods of individuals in other states have improved significantly, with many rising above the poverty line. The people of West Bengal deserve the same level of development. Let’s unite to rebuild a vibrant West Bengal,” the PM concludes his letter.
