Modi's Poila Baisakh Letter: A Call to End Fear in West Bengal
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, April 15 (NationPress) On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the citizens of West Bengal with an open letter celebrating the Bengal New Year. In this letter, he urged voters to bring an end to the climate of fear and terror that has prevailed in the state during the past 15 years under the Trinamool Congress government.
Earlier that day, he shared a social media message expressing his New Year wishes. While the message was devoid of any political commentary, his letter contained a direct and vigorous critique of the Trinamool Congress and its leader, Mamata Banerjee.
His social media post was bilingual, in both English and Bengali, whereas the open letter was exclusively in Bengali.
“For the last 15 years, the citizens of West Bengal have suffered due to misgovernance, disorder, and corruption. These issues have deeply impacted the fundamental rights, dignity, and culture of the common man,” PM Modi articulated in his letter.
He expressed his profound concern for the hardships faced by the people of West Bengal, stating, “The Trinamool Congress administration has fostered a climate of fear in the state. Should the BJP assume power, we will ensure job opportunities for youth and the safety of women. Therefore, I encourage you to vote with confidence in this democratic festival,” he added.
According to PM Modi, the BJP's focus in West Bengal will be on generating employment so that young people do not have to migrate to other states for work.
“We will provide shelter for the underprivileged, ensure everyone has sufficient food, create a safe environment for women, and prevent the youth from leaving the state in search of jobs,” the Prime Minister asserted.
He emphasized that the upcoming Assembly elections later this month are not just another election but a golden opportunity to initiate the state’s journey toward growth and prosperity.
“It is time to take decisive measures to safeguard our heritage, culture, traditions, and rights; this election embodies a struggle between fear and trust. We must make the right choice—not just for ourselves but to create a brighter future for our descendants,” he remarked in his letter.
PM Modi also called upon the populace to vote courageously. “I sincerely appeal to each of you: engage actively and without fear in this festival of democracy, and collaborate with us to realize the vision of a 'Developed West Bengal.' I am confident that this time, the people of West Bengal will place their trust in the Bharatiya Janata Party and in me, leading us to a historic victory,” he concluded.
