Doda, December 20 (NationPress) In a crucial step towards enhancing rural connectivity, BJP MLA representing Doda West, Shakti Raj Parihar, laid the foundation stone for an infrastructure initiative valued at Rs 73 crore, covering 15.3 km for the Assar-Dhansal Road to Patta via Haliya Hirni on Saturday.
The primary goal of this project is to strengthen regional connectivity. According to the MLA, it is expected to foster economic development and facilitate easier travel for local residents. This road construction is being executed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme.
During the event, MLA Parihar noted that this marks the first instance of a proper road being built in the village since independence. He added that upon completion, this road would grant residents improved access to markets, healthcare, and educational institutions.
In a conversation with IANS, MLA Parihar expressed his appreciation towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Jitendra Singh. He mentioned that the new road would substantially enhance connectivity and the quality of life for local inhabitants.
MLA Parihar also discussed the PMGSY scheme, which was initiated in 2000 to improve rural infrastructure throughout India.
He stated that phases one, two, and three of the scheme have been successfully completed, and the fourth phase (Batch I) is currently in progress.
For this phase, the Central Government has allocated a total of Rs 4,200 crore for Jammu and Kashmir. Work has already begun on several roads for which tenders have been awarded, while some additional projects are pending commencement.
Emphasizing the BJP’s dedication to fulfilling its commitments, Shakti Raj Parihar asserted that the current government is prioritizing the welfare of remote regions, contrasting it with past administrations that, in his view, overlooked the needs of residents.
He further asserted that the construction of roads like the Patta-Hirni stretch demonstrates the government’s resolve to close the developmental gap in underprivileged areas of the state. He declared that no region will be left without road access.
The laying of the foundation stone was attended by local leaders, panchayat members, and residents, all of whom conveyed their optimism that the new road would usher in much-needed progress and connectivity to Charota Panchayat and nearby regions.
