New Delhi, April 5 (NationPress) The Ministry of Rural Development has approved projects valued at Rs 620.63 crore for the construction of rural roads in the northeastern region, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Odisha to stimulate economic growth in remote areas, according to an official statement released on Saturday.

An allocation of Rs 474.71 crore will be dedicated to the PMGSY-III scheme for rural roads in Manipur, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

In Manipur, 41 roads totaling 280.97 km have been approved, with an estimated investment of Rs 225.15 crore. Previously, 56 roads with a combined length of 502.24 km and an estimated investment of Rs. 404.72 crore had already been authorized under the PMGSY-III scheme, as stated by the ministry.

Mizoram has received a projected investment of Rs 67.69 crore for the construction of 7 long-span bridges measuring 373.46 metres. Earlier, 17 roads with a total length of 487.50 km and an estimated investment of Rs 562.70 crore were sanctioned in the state under PMGSY-III.

For Himachal Pradesh, Rs 140.90 crore has been allocated for the construction of 21 long-span bridges measuring 970.772 metres in length. This is in addition to the previous sanctioning of 299 roads totaling 3,123.117 km and 43 long-span bridges with an estimated investment of Rs 3,345.82 crore.

Uttarakhand will receive Rs 40.77 crore for 9 long-span bridges measuring 246 metres. The state has already been allocated 212 roads of 2,287.95 km and 9 long-span bridges with an estimated investment of Rs 1,865.34 crore earlier under the scheme.

The Ministry of Rural Development has also approved projects for Tripura and Odisha under the connectivity component of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).

For Odisha, 25 roads totaling 84.352 km have been sanctioned with an estimated investment of Rs. 76.47 crore, while Tripura has received approval for 26 roads measuring 63.271 km and 2 long-span bridges, with a projected investment of Rs. 69.65 crore.

This initiative aims to enhance access to vital services such as healthcare, education, and markets. It will also improve connectivity in rural regions, bridging the gap between remote villages and urban centers, and promote economic development, trade, and commerce in the area, the ministry elaborated.
