BJP MLA Accuses Tejashwi Yadav of Making AD Singh a Political Scapegoat
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, March 18 (NationPress) Following the Rajya Sabha election defeat, BJP MLA Rajnish Kumar Singh intensified his criticism, accusing Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav of deliberately nominating AD Singh, knowing full well that the candidate would likely lose, thus making him a political scapegoat.
The MLA representing Teghara Assembly in Begusarai district claimed that Tejashwi Yadav had prior knowledge of the potential loss for RJD’s candidate yet proceeded with the nomination.
Singh described this as a strategic decision, asserting that a well-known Bhumihar figure was sacrificed to serve as a scapegoat.
He further contended that had Tejashwi been truly confident in victory, he would have presented a family member as a candidate, indicating that the leadership had already braced for defeat.
Additionally, he alleged that significant financial resources were expended during the elections, but the party was still unable to achieve success.
In a tightly contested election, BJP candidate Shivesh Kumar Ram secured the fifth seat after a close race with AD Singh on Monday. The result hinged on the counting of second-preference votes, which ultimately favored the BJP candidate.
The loss has been largely linked to the absence of Mahagathbandhan MLAs. Four members, from both Congress and RJD, did not cast their votes. If at least three of these legislators had backed AD Singh, he could have claimed victory in the initial round.
In light of this, Rajnish Singh has called for accountability from Tejashwi Yadav, questioning the absence of three Congress MLAs and one RJD MLA during the voting process. He accused the opposition leader of poor coordination with alliance partners.
Moreover, the BJP leader claimed that the election outcomes reflect a diminishing grip of Tejashwi Yadav over his party and its allies. “When a leader fails to secure support from his own legislators, it raises significant concerns regarding leadership,” he noted.
Labeling Tejashwi Yadav as an inexperienced player, Singh asserted that he could not maintain solidarity within the alliance, thereby revealing internal divisions within the Mahagathbandhan.
