Rewa, May 17 (NationPress) As the nation rejoices in the triumph of Operation Sindoor, the bizarre and contentious remarks from BJP leaders and ministers continue to fuel discussions.
Just when the political tempest from two ministers’ statements seemed to be calming down, a new controversy emerged from the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh.
During a Tiranga Yatra held to pay tribute to the valor of the Indian Armed Forces, Narendra Prajapati, the newly elected BJP MLA from Mangawan constituency in Rewa, made a provocative assertion.
While addressing the crowd, Prajapati claimed, “India would have annihilated Pakistan if the US had not pressured India into agreeing to a ceasefire.”
This remark, made during the patriotic rally, swiftly gained traction on social media, igniting outrage and drawing criticism from various sectors. Many questioned if such comments misrepresent India’s diplomatic posture and military resolve.
In the wake of the backlash, when approached by journalists, MLA Narendra Prajapati acknowledged his error, explaining that he intended to refer to the “United States” but mistakenly said “United Nations.”
He clarified that this was merely a verbal slip and not a deliberate statement. Earlier, during his address at the public gathering post the Tiranga Yatra, Prajapati had stated, “If the United Nations had not issued the ceasefire order, Pakistan would have been finished.” He has since corrected his statement to clarify he meant the US.
Meanwhile, the Central government has insisted that the understanding was not reached under any external pressure. Official sources have indicated that the initiative for ‘understanding’ came after Pakistan reached out through diplomatic communication, requesting peace, following the consequences of Operation Sindoor.
This incident adds to a series of exaggerated and loose statements being made by some BJP leaders in the wake of Operation Sindoor.
Political analysts suggest that while the party’s enthusiasm is palpable, such unchecked comments can undermine the gravity of military and diplomatic efforts.
