Jaipur, May 12 (NationPress) Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra on Monday expressed deep concerns regarding the recent developments following Operation Sindoor and the announced ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
Dotasra highlighted that after Pakistan-backed terrorists murdered 26 innocent Indian civilians, there was a wave of nationwide indignation. In response, the entire opposition, including the Congress party, rallied behind the Centre to take strong measures. He commended the bravery of the Indian Army, noting that the nation takes pride in their decisive actions against terrorist havens.
However, Dotasra voiced apprehension over a social media post by the U.S. President, which indicated that India and Pakistan had come to a ceasefire agreement.
He criticized the Union government for failing to clarify whether the U.S. acted as a mediator.
“It is disgraceful that the U.S. President equated India with Pakistan, a country that shelters terrorists,” Dotasra remarked, adding that the American statement also suggested potential U.S. involvement in addressing the Kashmir issue, a claim that has not been denied by the Indian government.
Dotasra called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convene an all-party meeting and a special session of the Lok Sabha to provide comprehensive details regarding any communications or agreements involving the U.S., the ceasefire, and the Kashmir issue.
He reiterated that India has consistently opposed third-party mediation in bilateral issues like Kashmir and questioned whether the current administration still adheres to this long-standing position.
Dotasra also brought up the case of MLA Kanwarlal Meena, who was sentenced to three years in a criminal case, a ruling upheld by both the High Court and the Supreme Court.
“Per the regulations, Meena’s membership should be automatically terminated. The Congress submitted a memorandum to the Speaker on May 5, but no action has been taken.”
He cautioned that if the Assembly Speaker does not revoke Meena’s membership within 24 hours, the Congress Party would consider legal action and public protests.
“It is ironic that Rahul Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership was suspended within 24 hours, whereas no action has been taken in this case even after 25 days,” he concluded.
