New Delhi, Dec 23 (NationPress) More than 4,500 industrial parks have emerged across India, covering an impressive area of 7.70 lakh hectares. This initiative represents the government's commitment to energizing the nation's industry and innovation landscape.

In collaboration with state governments and private entities, these parks are designed to attract investments, thereby fortifying India’s industrial foundation and boosting job creation, which is essential for promoting sustainable economic growth, as stated by an official announcement on Tuesday.

With the government taking on a more facilitative role instead of a regulatory one, these parks are shaping a globally competitive industrial economy in India.

An investment of Rs. 2,500 crores has been earmarked for developing plug-and-play industrial parks as part of the Union Budget for 2025-26.

These parks, tailored to meet industry requirements, significantly enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.

Currently, there are 306 plug-and-play industrial parks in existence, with plans for an additional 20 plug-and-play industrial parks and smart cities under the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC). Four projects have reached completion, four are underway, while the remainder are progressing through various bidding and tendering phases, as clarified in the statement.

The industrial parks function under flexible and incentive-driven regulations concerning labor, land usage, and foreign investment. They provide shared resources like utilities, telecom services, waste management systems, laboratories, internal roads, single-window clearances, training centers, security, and emergency services.

By enhancing the ease of doing business, India has made strides in attracting both domestic and international investors, making these parks pivotal in meeting extensive employment demands. Improved internal infrastructure has led to higher occupancy rates and stimulated economic growth.

Investors are able to assess suitable land plots remotely, utilizing detailed data on infrastructure, connectivity, business support services, as well as environmental and safety regulations, which streamlines informed investment decisions.

Developments are executed on meticulously planned land with standardized building and facility specifications. A singular authority manages firm entry, ensures regulatory adherence, and propels long-term park development.

Numerous firms within the park collaborate, share resources, and boost productivity through agglomeration and clustering effects.

These industrial parks concentrate valuable production factors within specific geographic areas, fostering increased productivity and operational efficiency. They generate employment, elevate wages, and enhance the local talent pool.

The parks invite investment and advanced technologies while facilitating the transfer of technological and managerial expertise. The clustered industrial activities promote upgrades, bolster national competitiveness, and deepen integration into global value chains. Additionally, they serve as catalysts for economic growth and sustainable development in surrounding cities and regions.

To ensure a sharper focus on sustainability, green infrastructure, logistics, digitalization, skill linkages, and tenant feedback, an Industrial Park Rating System (IPRS) has also been established.

Point of View

It is evident that the establishment of industrial parks is a pivotal move towards enhancing India's industrial framework. This approach not only aids in job creation but also strengthens our global competitiveness. The government's role as a facilitator marks a significant shift in policy, promising a more vibrant and sustainable economy.
