Piyush Goyal's visit to Chennai marks a crucial phase of the BJP's preparations for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
He commenced his trip with a review meeting at the BJP’s State headquarters in Thyagaraya Nagar, where he engaged with senior party officials regarding Assembly election strategies, ground realities, organizational strength, and the NDA's electoral prospects in Tamil Nadu.
Subsequently, Goyal held a high-level discussion with Edappadi K. Palaniswami, General Secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, at a local hotel.
The two leaders reportedly deliberated on seat-sharing arrangements and the broader alliance strategy for about one and a half hours. This meeting is viewed as a vital step towards enhancing coordination between the BJP and the AIADMK in anticipation of the 2026 Assembly elections.
In his remarks to the press, Goyal expressed his pleasure at being in Chennai and his contentment with his meeting with Palaniswami.
"I am delighted to meet my friend and brother Edappadi Palaniswami. The conversations went exceptionally well. We discussed in-depth how we can jointly approach the 2026 Assembly elections and governance-related matters," he concluded.
