What Anti-Sabotage Operations Were Conducted in J&K’s Srinagar?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Srinagar, Dec 23 (NationPress) On Tuesday, security personnel executed anti-sabotage operations in the vicinity of critical installations within the city of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.
An official reported that these operations aimed to bolster security protocols and address potential threats.
According to the official, the police conducted these operations in the Maharaja Bazaar and Amira Kadal regions near Bakshi Stadium, which serves as the primary venue for Republic Day and Independence Day festivities in the Valley.
“It is standard procedure for security forces to implement special drills and operations leading up to Republic Day and Independence Day to avert any disruptions by terrorists during flag hoisting, parades, and cultural events associated with these national celebrations,” the official stated.
The police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) conducted area security and anti-sabotage operations in close collaboration, focusing on major critical installations and sensitive sites across the northern sector of Srinagar. This initiative was designed to enhance preventive security measures against any looming threats.
The official elaborated that the joint security exercise aims to fortify the overall security framework, boost operational readiness, and safeguard both vital infrastructure and the general populace.
“During the operation, extensive checks and sanitization of the targeted areas were conducted, alongside a thorough assessment of current security arrangements,” he mentioned.
He also noted that similar security drills have occurred in various locations within Anantnag district.
Unlike previous years when flag hoisting and ceremonial parades were strictly official events, since 2019, following the abrogation of Article 370 and the centralization of governance in J&K, large crowds now participate actively in official functions on Republic Day and Independence Day.
Since 2019, separatists have ceased calls for public boycotts and disruptions on these significant national days.
