Srinagar, Aug 13 (NationPress) Comprehensive rehearsals for the Independence Day parade took place throughout the Kashmir and Jammu regions on Wednesday, supported by a robust security framework to ensure safety during the events scheduled for August 15.
V.K. Birdi, Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Zone), informed journalists in Srinagar that the full dress rehearsals for the parades were conducted successfully across the Valley.
“Additionally, a security drill was effectively executed at various district headquarters within the Valley today. The Srinagar police, in collaboration with the CRPF, have established multi-tier security measures, particularly for the main parade in the city where VIPs will be present,” he stated.
The IGP emphasized that security personnel have been stationed at multiple locations to secure the Independence Day parade site. “We encourage the public to participate in large numbers at the main parade in Srinagar, as all safety measures have been implemented,” he added.
Regarding a recent infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in the Uri sector, the senior officer mentioned that the situation is under control, and further information will be released as it becomes available.
On another note, addressing the ongoing 13-day anti-terror operation in the Akhal Devsar forests of Kulgam district, the IGP confirmed that the operation is nearing completion, with details to be disclosed once it concludes.
Kashmir Divisional Commissioner V.K. Bidhuri was present to take the salute at the main Independence Day parade in Srinagar, while Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar oversaw the rehearsal parade at M.A. Stadium in Jammu.
A security drill was also conducted in Jammu city and other district headquarters earlier in the day.
