BJP MP Manoj Tiwari visited the Wazirabad Chhath ghat in his constituency on Thursday to engage in a cleanliness initiative.
He assessed the pathways to the ghats, cleanliness initiatives, and preparations to ensure ‘Chhath Vratis’ can gather effortlessly along the riverbanks.
The BJP representative shared moments of his ‘Shramdaan’ at the Wazirabad Chhath ghat on X, urging volunteers and workers to join in the cleanliness drive, underscoring the shared responsibility of maintaining clean, safe, and secure ghats for the devotees.
“Today, I inspected Ram Ghat in Wazirabad within my Lok Sabha constituency and took part in the Shramdaan at the Chhath Ghat. Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh Ji, Timarpur MLA Surya Prakash Khatri Ji, District President U.K. Chaudhary Ji, and numerous workers were present,” he noted in a post.
He added that both the state and central governments are committed to ensuring that 'Chhath vratis' do not encounter any challenges during their visits to the ghats.
The Chhath Puja, commencing on October 25, will see devotees engage in strict rituals, fasting, and participate in morning and evening gatherings at the Yamuna ghats to offer prayers to Lord Sun.
Recently, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta directed party MPs, MLAs, Councillors, and other public representatives to actively partake in cleanliness drives in their areas where Chhath Puja will take place.
Importantly, Chhath Puja stands as one of the most significant Hindu festivals, predominantly celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh. This festival is dedicated to honoring Lord Surya (the Sun God) and his sister Chhathi Maiya, emphasizing themes of purity, gratitude, and the well-being of families.
