Hyderabad, Feb 18 (NationPress) BJP MP Eatala Rajender on Tuesday sought clarification from Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy regarding the noticeable decline in the population of Backward Classes (BCs) in the state, as indicated by a recent caste survey.

Speaking to the media, Rajender, who represents the Malkajgiri constituency, asserted that the BJP supports the execution of caste surveys in various states.

He accused the Congress-led state government of lacking sincerity towards conducting a proper caste census.

The BJP has been raising questions about the Congress government's handling of the BC population decline in comparison to a comprehensive household survey carried out in 2014.

According to the BJP, the 2014 survey recorded the BC population at 1,88,41,009, whereas the recent caste survey conducted by the Congress government estimated the BC population at 1,64,09,179.

BJP leaders have also referenced Aadhaar card statistics in Telangana to challenge the legitimacy of the caste survey. In 2020, Telangana had 3.95 crore Aadhaar cards, yet the caste survey accounted for only 3.54 crore individuals.

Rajender further claimed that the Central government has allocated substantial funds to Telangana, noting that Rs 6,300 crore was approved for the Ramagundam Fertiliser Plant. Additionally, the Union Government is establishing a railway coach factory in Kazipet.

He emphasized that the BJP-led NDA government prioritizes the 'Make in India' initiative and is approving loans in the thousands of crores to support small and medium enterprises.

Regarding the long-awaited steel plant at Bayyaram, as promised in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, Rajender challenged the state government, questioning, "Why can’t the state government establish the steel plant to provide jobs?"

He affirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not one to make unfulfillable promises.

Rajender concluded by alleging that the real estate industry in Telangana has severely deteriorated since the Congress party assumed power.
