Hyderabad, Feb 17 (NationPress) The President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), Mahesh Kumar Goud, issued a challenge on Monday to Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, urging him to convince the Centre to add the Bill that will be passed by the Telangana Assembly for increasing reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) to 42 percent into the 9th Schedule of the Constitution of India.
He questioned whether Bandi Sanjay had the guts to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate a caste survey nationwide.
While addressing the TPCC’s OBC executive meeting at the state Congress headquarters Gandhi Bhavan, Mahesh Kumar Goud responded to Bandi Sanjay's claims that the Congress party is not dedicated to fulfilling its election promise of raising the BC quota to 42 percent.
The TPCC President announced that a special session of the Telangana Assembly is scheduled for next month to discuss the Bill regarding 42 percent reservations for BCs.
He emphasized that the Congress government is committed not only to passing this Bill but also to leading a delegation of leaders, regardless of party affiliations, to meet Prime Minister Modi.
Goud expressed that the caste census marks a significant step forward in the welfare of BCs.
Pointing out the disunity among BCs, he stressed the importance of community solidarity.
He claimed that the future belongs to BCs and questioned whether parties like BJP and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) could ever elevate someone from the community to the role of chief minister. He asserted that only the Congress party could achieve this.
The TPCC chief mentioned that the caste survey was conducted in alignment with the aspirations of party leader Rahul Gandhi.
Mahesh Kumar Goud recalled that the Kamareddy BC declaration was passed under his leadership.
He criticized the BRS leaders, stating they lack the moral authority to discuss the concerns of BCs, and disparaged the KCR family for prioritizing project commissions.
In related news, former Union Minister of State Arun Subhashchandra Yadav met with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday to commend him for conducting a thorough caste survey and for utilizing the findings to empower the OBCs.
He congratulated CM Revanth Reddy on behalf of the entire All India OBC community as well as the Madhya Pradesh OBCs and the Madhya Pradesh Yadav samaj.
