BJP Raises Concerns Over Rahul Gandhi's Leadership Amid Discontent in INDIA Alliance

New Delhi, Dec 8 (NationPress) Amid escalating discontent within the INDIA alliance, BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli on Sunday expressed worries about the leadership of Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, implying that constituent parties are questioning his ability to effectively lead the coalition.
Kohli's comments come as tensions escalate within the opposition bloc, with numerous leaders articulating dissatisfaction over the conduct of the Congress party. The Samajwadi Party (SP) has publicly voiced its discontent regarding Congress' actions in Parliament, while Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has openly articulated her dissatisfaction and even suggested she could assume leadership of the alliance if necessary. Furthermore, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar endorsed Mamata Banerjee as a capable national leader on Saturday, acknowledging the competency of her party's representatives in Parliament.
In an interview with IANS, Kohli stated, "These developments clearly indicate that there is concern among the member parties of the INDIA alliance. It is also becoming increasingly clear that various leaders are questioning Rahul Gandhi's leadership abilities, pondering whether he can effectively guide the coalition forward."
Kohli further emphasized that the Congress party needs to clarify whether the other member parties are still committed to the alliance and to Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, underscoring that the BJP is not involved in this internal matter.
He also remarked on Sharad Pawar's support for Mamata Banerjee, referring to him as a senior and respected leader.
Kohli suggested that Pawar's endorsement of Mamata was a pointed critique of Congress, especially in light of the Samajwadi Party's decision to exit the alliance following a controversy involving Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray’s aide Milind Narvekar, which highlighted tensions within the Maharashtra-based Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance.
Despite these fractures, the INDIA bloc continues to project a united front. However, as internal disagreements become more pronounced, Congress is now under mounting pressure to tackle the rising leadership concerns within its ranks.
