New Delhi, April 11 (NationPress) Senior BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain on Friday condemned Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut for his provocative statements regarding the extradition of 26/11 suspect Tahawwur Rana, questioning whether his rhetoric aligns with that of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Hussain’s response came after Raut accused the BJP of transforming Rana’s extradition into a “festival.”
“These individuals are celebrating the Tahawwur Rana festival. Kulbhushan Jadhav is languishing in a Pakistani prison; we must bring him home. Let’s bring Dawood Ibrahim back as well. This festival will persist until the Bihar elections,” Raut remarked.
In a forceful rebuttal, Hussain questioned Raut’s allegiance and intentions, implying that his statements mirrored the sentiments of the LeT and not those of a genuine Mumbaikar.
“What type of language is Sanjay Raut using? Is he expressing the thoughts of the Indian Army or the Lashkar-e-Taiba?” Hussain inquired.
“The Lashkar-e-Taiba is suffering. Terrorists and Pakistanis are in distress. But why is Sanjay Raut in pain?” he further questioned.
Hussain, referencing the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks that resulted in over 160 fatalities, stated that Raut’s remarks dishonor the martyrs.
“There was an attack in Mumbai on November 26. Many of our citizens were martyred. Sanjay Raut is disrespecting their sacrifice,” he asserted.
“This is not merely a political issue. This is a national battle against terrorism.”
Hussain highlighted that securing Tahawwur Rana's extradition from the United States represented a crucial victory in the global struggle against terrorism.
“Tahawwur Rana was forcibly brought from America. Those opposed to terrorism are rejoicing. But Sanjay Raut is lamenting,” he stated.
“He claims this was orchestrated for the Bihar elections. What does that imply? Bihar is part of India too. If Rana is punished, the entire nation will feel that justice has been served.”
He also criticized Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar, alleging that some party members echoed similar sentiments.
“Tahawwur Rana is a terrorist. He was the architect of the 26/11 Mumbai attack. With him now in custody, numerous secrets of Pakistan will be unveiled to the world. Yet, the Congress is distressed. That’s regrettable,” he claimed.
Regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill being debated in Bengal, Shahnawaz Hussain defended the Modi government’s intentions and criticized the Opposition for spreading misinformation.
“The Waqf Amendment Act aims to benefit impoverished Muslims. Much like the CAA, people are being misled. Has even one Muslim lost their citizenship due to the CAA?” he questioned.
“TMC, Congress, AIMIM, and other factions are attempting to poison public perception. This is extremely unfortunate,” he stated.
He concluded, “The country will be governed by law. Those who attempt to take the law into their own hands will face severe consequences.”
