Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Nov 12 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled a roster of 40 prominent campaigners for the upcoming local and civic body elections in Maharashtra. At the forefront are Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal, along with state unit chief Ravindra Chavan.
This announcement followed a key meeting led by Chief Minister Fadnavis, who convened the party’s core committee on Tuesday to assess the preparations for these elections, seen as a precursor to the Assembly polls.
In addition to CM Fadnavis, other notable campaigners include state unit chief Ravindra Chavan, Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal, former revenue minister and state party chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, national general secretary Vinod Tawde, and many others.
The release of the star campaigners' list came after Chandrashekhar Bawankule was appointed as the Maharashtra election in-charge for local and civic bodies.
Bawankule stated, "We aim to secure all the elections in Maharashtra with a two-thirds majority by obtaining 51% of the votes through the Mahayuti. I am confident that the BJP-Mahayuti will achieve a substantial victory across all municipal corporations, Zilla Parishads, municipalities, and Nagar Panchayats in the state."
He further emphasized the need for ongoing coordination within the grand alliance, mentioning that a committee comprising three ministers from each district—one from the BJP, one from Shiv Sena, and one from NCP—would be established to facilitate this.
