New Delhi, March 26 (NationPress) BJP leader Danish Azad Ansari on Wednesday came to the defense of the contentious Waqf Amendment Bill, asserting that those who oppose it are essentially hindering the advancement of the Muslim community.

In a conversation with IANS, Ansari highlighted that the Bill is intended to enhance the welfare of Muslims by facilitating the creation of schools, hospitals, and other establishments on Waqf land, as well as offering free education and healthcare to marginalized Muslims.

"Opposition to the Waqf Amendment Bill is essentially a stance against the progress of the Muslim community. The Narendra Modi government aims to establish hospitals and schools on Waqf land, ensuring free education and healthcare for impoverished Muslims. What is the issue with that?"

"Whenever we advocate for the development of Muslims, certain opposition leaders and particular individuals have resisted it because they do not wish for underprivileged Muslims to succeed. However, under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, we are dedicated to fostering the prosperity of ordinary Muslims in a transparent manner," he further stated.

The Waqf Amendment Bill, which has sparked national debate, faces significant opposition from various Muslim organizations, including Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind. They contend that the amendments may result in the mismanagement of Waqf properties and reduce the autonomy of the Muslim community in overseeing their charitable assets.

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has also voiced strong objections, planning to organize large protests against the Bill across the nation.

Ansari also reflected on the upcoming Eid celebrations and the government’s initiatives to assist the Muslim community.

He remarked, "Eid is a festive occasion, and like a son, PM Modi considers every Muslim a part of his family. To ensure that all Muslims, particularly the less fortunate, enjoy Eid with joy, the government is distributing 'Modi Kits', which will contain sevaiyan (vermicelli), dried fruits, dates, and presents for our needy brothers and sisters."

He underscored the government's ongoing commitment to the advancement and welfare of the Muslim community, stating, "This is the agenda of our Modi government, and we are diligently working to achieve it."
