Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin on Monday, 18 May called for tighter coordination between the party organisation and the state government during his two-day visit to Odisha. Nabin made the directive at the BJP state core committee meeting held at the party's state office in Bhubaneswar, setting a clear organisational agenda ahead of upcoming local body elections.

Key Directives from the Core Committee Meeting

Nabin asked party leaders to strengthen the communication bridge between the BJP's organisational structure and the state government machinery. He urged workers to actively engage in public awareness campaigns and deepen outreach at the grassroots level, ensuring that public grievances are channelled effectively to the government for resolution.

According to MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, who addressed the media after the meeting, Nabin also stressed the need to carry the BJP's anti-corruption campaign down to the village level, making governance more transparent and accountable. Sarangi described the meeting as 'highly educational, inspirational, and focused on strengthening the party organisation in Odisha.'

Senior Leadership in Attendance

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers K.V. Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, state BJP president Manmohan Samal, along with senior state ministers and Members of Parliament, attended the core committee meeting.

Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Jual Oram said the meeting was centred on improving coordination and communication between the government and the party's organisational structure at all levels. He said leaders and functionaries would work to implement the directions given during the session.

Election Preparedness on the Agenda

Discussions at the meeting also covered organisational readiness ahead of the upcoming Panchayat and urban local body elections. Nabin asked party functionaries to prepare comprehensive strategies and detailed action plans for the polls.

Nabin also reviewed ongoing programmes, including women's outreach initiatives, public awareness rallies, and women's gatherings, encouraging leaders to expand these campaigns statewide.

The BJP has governed Odisha since its landmark victory in the 2024 state assembly elections, ending the 24-year run of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) under Naveen Patnaik.
