New Delhi, April 19 (NationPress) In light of the recent communal unrest in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district that resulted in the loss of three lives, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth faction of the BJP, is preparing to conduct a ‘Save Bengali Hindus’ rally in Kolkata this Saturday. The rally will commence at the historic residence of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and conclude at the residence of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookherjee in Bhawanipur.

The BJP has characterized this event as a significant demonstration aimed at spotlighting what it perceives as the declining circumstances facing Bengali Hindus in the region.

On Thursday, the Calcutta High Court authorized the rally following a request from the organizers.

This announcement comes amidst increasing political strain in the state due to the violence in Murshidabad’s Dhulian area on April 11.

The turmoil arose during demonstrations against the Waqf (Amendment) Act, leading to three fatalities and several injuries. The incident sparked a political uproar, with both state and central leaders exchanging blame.

West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose visited the troubled areas in Murshidabad on Friday to evaluate the situation firsthand.

In response, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee unveiled a compensation scheme of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased and promised housing assistance under the Banglar Bari initiative for those who lost their homes. She directed the Chief Secretary to compile a comprehensive report on the damages and relief actions.

“We do not discriminate based on religion; our priority is the suffering and loss experienced by every citizen,” Banerjee remarked in defense of her administration.

However, BJP officials have accused the state government of obscuring the truth.

Union Minister and BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar claimed a “state-sponsored cover-up,” asserting that Hindu families targeted during the violence were forced to flee to Malda for safety.

He further alleged that local officials were pressuring victims to vacate relief camps to hinder their communication with representatives from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

“This is not merely an administrative failure; it represents a total breakdown of constitutional safeguards,” Majumdar stated on the social media platform X.
