Key Takeaways
Rewa, Jan 8 (NationPress) A wave of panic swept through the Rewa district court in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday morning following an alarming bomb threat communicated via email, leading to immediate actions by local authorities and law enforcement.
Officials reported that the email containing the threat was directed to the official inbox of the Principal District Judge (PDJ), prompting the court administration to promptly notify the district police headquarters.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Vivek Singh, accompanied by high-ranking police officials, swiftly arrived at the scene. The court area was rapidly evacuated, including the chambers of lawyers, while judges were relocated to a secure environment as a safety precaution.
The police established a perimeter around the entire court facility and initiated a thorough search operation both inside and outside the premises. Teams including dog units and bomb disposal specialists were deployed.
“The Principal District Judge received information regarding a bomb threat targeting the court. He immediately alerted the Superintendent of Police, who responded promptly. A comprehensive search is underway throughout the premises. Canines and bomb squads are actively inspecting the area, but nothing suspicious has surfaced thus far,” stated Rewa City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Rajiv Pathak to IANS.
Pathak indicated that initial investigations suggested the threatening email originated from a southern region of the country. “The threat was sent through email from a location in southern India. We are treating this matter with utmost seriousness and are investigating from all possible angles,” he remarked.
Cybercrime investigators have also joined the effort to identify the sender of the email. “At this moment, no suspicious object or device has been discovered. The search operation is ongoing,” the CSP noted.
The district court is situated in a bustling marketplace area of Rewa, resulting in a significant crowd near the court. Consequently, traffic on the roads leading to the court was halted, and the entire area was cordoned off to ensure public safety.
It is noteworthy that the new building of the Rewa district court was recently inaugurated.
