Hyderabad, Aug 3 (NationPress) A contingent of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders, under the guidance of party working president K. T. Rama Rao, is set to participate in a meeting organized by the Election Commission of India (ECI) scheduled for August 5 in Delhi.
The BRS has confirmed that K. T. Rama Rao (commonly known as KTR) will spearhead the delegation.
This delegation will comprise notable senior leaders and former Members of Parliament, including K.R. Suresh Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP and BRS Floor Leader, Vaddiraju Ravichandra, also a Rajya Sabha MP, Boianapalli Vinod Kumar, a former MP, Balka Suman, another former MP, and R.S. Praveen Kumar, the General Secretary of BRS.
The ECI has formally invited the BRS delegation to join a meeting of political parties at Nirvachan Sadan, the headquarters of the poll panel in New Delhi, at 3 p.m.
This invitation was sent via an official letter from Ashwani Kumar Mohal, the Secretary of the ECI, and was also conveyed to the BRS President through the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana.
This meeting is anticipated to address vital topics such as electoral reforms, pending representations from various political parties like the BRS, and discussions surrounding the Model Code of Conduct along with related electoral procedures.
The significance of this meeting is heightened due to the ongoing political dynamics across several states and the approach to both state and national elections, as highlighted by a statement from the BRS.
The gathering of political parties also carries weight amid the controversy regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and other regions.
Opposition parties, including the Congress, have disrupted the workings of both houses of Parliament, insisting on discussions regarding SIR and the cessation of the Election Commission's initiatives.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has been vocal about alleged electoral misconduct and is also slated to lead a protest in Bengaluru on August 5.
