BRS Leader Harish Rao Alleges Some MLAs Arriving Intoxicated at Telangana Assembly

Hyderabad, Dec 18 (NationPress) BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Wednesday made a startling accusation in the Telangana Assembly, asserting that certain legislators are arriving at the House under the influence of alcohol. He suggested implementing a breath analyser test for those entering the legislative assembly.
The former minister emphasized that, akin to the breath analyser tests used for detecting drunk driving, similar assessments should be administered to the legislators as they enter the House.
Harish Rao stated that some members are arriving after morning drinking sessions and are unaware of what they are articulating during proceedings.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy called for Harish Rao to apologize to the assembly for his statements, claiming they are not merely derogatory towards the House but also to society as a whole.
Reddy expressed disappointment, asserting that personal attacks from any member, whether from the ruling party or the opposition, should not be tolerated.
Harish Rao's comment followed a statement from Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkatreddy, who accused him of theft concerning the Kaleshwaram project.
Government whip Beerla Ilaiah suggested that Harish Rao might have been referring to his uncle, K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly.
Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar expressed his dissatisfaction with Harish Rao's remarks, stating they would be removed from the official records.
Previously, he had also struck some comments made by BRS MLA Vivekananda from the records and cautioned another BRS MLA, Kaushik Reddy, that continued inappropriate remarks could lead to suspension. The Speaker noted that such behavior is not conducive for new members.
Minister for Legislative Affairs D. Sridhar Babu criticized the allegations made by Vivekananda against the government, advising that any such claims should be presented to the Speaker beforehand.
During discussions regarding issues faced by autorickshaw drivers, the BRS MLA alleged that the previous BRS government had betrayed these drivers.
