Hyderabad, March 27 (NationPress) The Congress party has called upon Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to take disciplinary measures against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA T. Harish Rao for capturing images inside the legislative premises.
On Thursday, government whip Aadi Srinivas addressed a letter to the Speaker, urging action against Harish Rao for breaching established protocols and previous rulings issued by the Speaker.
Aadi Srinivas highlighted that on Wednesday, amidst a disturbance in the House regarding discussions on grant demands, Harish Rao took photographs and shared them with the media.
The government whip stated that capturing videos and photographs within the legislative premises is strictly forbidden, as reiterated by the Speaker on multiple occasions.
He pointed out that BRS lawmakers are displaying misconduct by disregarding the Speaker's established guidelines within the Assembly.
Two days prior, BRS legislators exited the House over a matter and subsequently protested in the Assembly lounge and at the MLAs' entry point. During this time, they took videos and photographs and shared them with the media.
The Speaker, Prasad Kumar, reprimanded Harish Rao on Wednesday for taking photographs with his mobile phone during tense exchanges between Congress members and the BRS opposition.
The Speaker reminded Harish Rao of his seniority and prior role as a minister for a decade, stating, "You also worked as minister for legislative affairs. Don’t you know that taking photographs in the House and hall is prohibited?"
Furthermore, the Speaker instructed Harish Rao to erase all photographs he had taken.
