Agartala, March 25 (NationPress) The Additional Director General (ADG) of the BSF's Eastern Command, Ravi Gandhi, recently toured the Border Outpost (BOP) at Khantalang and BOP Pushparampara, which is recognized as the first all-women Prahari post in Tripura, according to officials.
During this significant visit, the ADG evaluated the operational readiness of the outposts and engaged in discussions with the Mahila Praharis, including Post Commander (Sub-Inspector rank) Sanju Ghasal.
He praised the dedication, professionalism, and resilience demonstrated by these women in managing security operations in one of the most challenging terrains along the India-Bangladesh border.
Accompanying the ADG were Inspector General (IG) of the BSF, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Deputy Inspector General Rajeev Vatsraj, along with other senior BSF officers.
This visit highlights the BSF’s dedication to empowering women in border security while acknowledging their crucial role in protecting the nation, as stated by the spokesman.
During his three-day trip to Tripura, Gandhi arrived on Monday and held separate meetings with Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, and Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan to discuss issues related to the India-Bangladesh border.
Additionally, he paid tribute to the brave martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
The ADG received briefings from the frontier IG concerning operational preparedness and significant strategic matters.
As part of his itinerary, ADG Gandhi visited several border-deployed units to evaluate ground conditions and converse with field commanders and jawans.
The spokesman mentioned that the paramilitary forces have increased vigilance and intensified their presence along the International Border since the outbreak of violence in Bangladesh that began in June-July last year, particularly after the fall of the previous Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government on August 5, 2024.
Meanwhile, BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary recently visited Mizoram and southern Assam for three days to conduct a comprehensive review of the operational landscape, assessing the force’s preparedness and strength for border dominance.
According to the spokesman, the BSF chief also visited BOP Steamer Ghat in Shri Bhumi district (formerly Karimganj district) on the Bangladesh border, where he interacted with troopers and received an operational briefing from the unit Commandant, reviewing border domination efforts.
