Pune, June 21 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday urged citizens to unite in the pursuit of a healthy, thriving society through the practice of devotion and yoga.
His remarks were made during the 'Varkari Bhakti Yoga' event, co-hosted by Savitribai Phule Pune University, Shri Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Sansthan Alandi, and Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan Dehu, celebrating the International Day of Yoga (IDY).
CM Fadnavis highlighted that yoga serves as a comprehensive method to rejuvenate both the body and mind, stating, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to establish Yoga Day at the United Nations has led to a global recognition of our ancient yoga traditions, a historic proposal backed by all nations. This year marks 11 years of IDY celebrations."
He added, "Yoga can be practiced by anyone aiming to revitalize their body, mind, and inner energy centers. The asanas are specifically crafted to accommodate the body's structure, promoting health from the nails to the hair. Globally, yoga is acknowledged as a potent healing practice and a pathway to a healthy lifestyle (wellness)."
"This year, the Warkari community exemplifies the message of 'One Land, One Health' promoted by PM Modi through their actions. Participating in yoga with the Warkari community brings immense joy. Today, individuals are practicing yoga at their residences, and students from 700 colleges have joined in this celebration, which is truly delightful. The organizers have introduced a new platform for Arogya Wari, which should be sustained indefinitely," stated the CM.
In another instance, the Governor of Maharashtra led a yoga session at Raj Bhavan, expressing intentions to incorporate yoga into universities. He described yoga as India's invaluable gift to the world and advocated for its adoption as a lifestyle.
The Governor observed that many begin practicing yoga only after reaching their 40s or 50s, emphasizing the need to introduce yoga at a younger age to alleviate stress and prevent illnesses among the youth.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, attending the 'Yoga by the Bay' event, remarked, "Thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives, IDY is now recognized globally. The growing importance of yoga has led to widespread celebrations of Yoga Day. The practice of yoga can help prevent numerous diseases, and I hope the youth will adopt yoga as a habit rather than succumbing to addictions. I wish everyone a successful celebration of this initiative."
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar posted on X, stating, "Yoga is a mindset that nurtures individual well-being while promoting the health of our planet. On #InternationalYogaDay, let’s embrace yoga as a means to achieve inner harmony and support the environment through every mindful action and decision."
