New Delhi, Feb 28 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, who also holds the Finance portfolio, is set to present the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report focusing on 'Public Health Infrastructure and Management of Health Services' in the Delhi Assembly today. This report aims to 'unveil' the true state of health services in the national capital.
As per sources, the report will provide insights into the condition of government hospitals and health services in Delhi for the year 2024.
This will mark the second CAG report to be discussed in the Assembly.
The BJP has already criticized the previous government, claiming significant deficiencies in government hospital facilities, where patients often struggle to find treatment and even essential medications.
Delhi's Health Minister, Pankaj Singh, commented, “While the previous government boasted about health services, the actual situation is starkly different. The CAG report will reveal everything.”
Concerns have been raised regarding the Mohalla Clinic initiative of the earlier administration, with reports suggesting insufficient medical staff, lack of essential medications, and inadequate patient care.
The upcoming report will evaluate the conditions of government hospitals, mohalla clinics, and other health services managed by the Delhi government.
The CAG report will highlight discrepancies between the claims made by the former Aam Aadmi Party government and the actual ground situation.
It will also assess the availability of medical equipment, medicine supplies, the number of doctors and nurses, and the care provided to patients.
Additionally, the report may indicate whether the budget allocated by the Delhi government for health was utilized effectively. The government made significant claims regarding health sector improvements for 2022-23 and 2023-24, but did those claims translate into real benefits for patients? This information will also be included in the report.
On a related note, earlier this Tuesday, CM Rekha Gupta presented the CAG report on the Delhi Excise Policy.
The report, titled 'Performance Audit on Regulation and Supply of Liquor in Delhi', reviews the regulation and distribution of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and Foreign Liquor in Delhi over a four-year span from 2017-18 to 2020-21.
The session of the Delhi Assembly has been extended for two additional days until March 1.
