Jammu, Jan 17 (NationPress) Security forces initiated a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, following intelligence indicating the existence of terrorists in the Billawar region.

In a unified effort, special Army forces, together with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), have commenced the CASO in Billawar.

The security personnel have secured the area and are conducting thorough searches to find the suspected terrorists. Residents are advised to remain indoors and assist the authorities.

Additional troops have been sent in to locate the terrorists.

Security forces are actively pursuing a robust campaign against terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and supporters to dismantle the terror network in the union territory.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has been leading high-level security discussions. During these sessions, he has directed the forces to intensify their efforts against the terror network.

Following a series of heinous attacks post the peaceful Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections in J&K, security forces have adjusted their strategies. These elections were closely observed by diplomats from various nations, which has reportedly frustrated the terror operatives based in Pakistan.

Intelligence reports suggest that these operatives have instructed terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir to make a final push for the dwindling terrorism. Increased vigilance is also being enforced at the border and the Line of Control (LoC) due to reports of terrorists ready at the launching pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) attempting to infiltrate into India.

Recently, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh criticized Pakistan, urging it to dismantle the terror infrastructure established in PoK. Speaking at the ninth Armed Forces Veterans’ Day rally in Jammu's Akhnoor, he stated that the land in PoK is being exploited for terrorist activities. He emphasized that even now, terrorist training camps are functioning there and launchpads have been set up near the border, with the Indian government possessing comprehensive information about these operations. Pakistan must address this issue.
