New Delhi, Nov 20 (NationPress) - The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two officials from the Delhi Police: a Sub-Inspector from Krishna Nagar and an ASI from Harsh Vihar, both caught accepting bribes of Rs. 30,000 and 50,000 from complainants, the agency announced on Thursday.
The suspects are identified as Nitin Meena, Sub-Inspector from Krishna Nagar, and Buddha Pal, ASI from Harsh Vihar.
As per the CBI, a case against the Sub-Inspector was initiated on Wednesday after it was reported that he solicited Rs. 40,000 from a complainant to assist in securing bail for their brother by submitting a favorable charge sheet.
Following negotiations, the Sub-Inspector consented to take Rs. 30,000 from the complainant.
The CBI set a trap on Thursday and caught the Sub-Inspector red-handed while he was demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs. 30,000, as stated in the agency's press release.
Similarly, the case against the ASI was filed by the CBI on Tuesday.
It was alleged that the ASI demanded Rs. 1 Lakh from a complainant to have her name removed from an FIR registered at PS-Harsh Vihar, as per the agency's announcement.
After discussions, the ASI agreed to accept a bribe of Rs. 50,000.
According to the CBI's press note, a trap was laid on Tuesday, successfully catching the ASI red-handed while he was soliciting and accepting the Rs. 50,000 from the complainant.
Both individuals have been apprehended, the agency confirmed, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
