New Delhi, Aug 16 (NationPress) In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced on Saturday the apprehension of Mohammad Dilshad, who had been evading law enforcement for 26 years after allegedly committing a murder in 1999 while in Saudi Arabia.
The CBI initiated a Local Prosecution Case in April 2022 following a formal request from Saudi authorities.
According to reports, Mohammad Dilshad was implicated in the murder of an individual at his workplace, where he served as a Heavy Motor Mechanic and Security Guard in Riyadh.
Post the crime, it is alleged that he fled to India and had been untraceable since.
Following the case registration, the CBI traced his native village in Bijnor district, Uttar Pradesh, and issued a Look Out Circular (LOC).
Despite these efforts, he remained undetected. Investigations revealed that Md Dilshad traveled internationally, including to Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, using a false identity and forged travel documents.
With the aid of technical leads and human intelligence, the CBI uncovered a new passport belonging to Mohammad Dilshad, leading to the issuance of a second LOC.
His arrest occurred at Indira Gandhi International Airport on August 11, where he was found traveling from Madinah via Jeddah to New Delhi on a forged passport.
The 52-year-old mechanic, currently employed in a company in Madinah, has been placed in judicial custody after his court appearance on August 14.
Investigations are ongoing.
