Kolkata, Nov 18 (NationPress) A collaborative operation between the Kolkata Police and Delhi Police led to the apprehension of a murder convict from Kolkata, who had escaped from Tihar Jail, according to officials.
The police reported that this infamous gangster, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, had been granted parole but failed to return to Tihar Jail, instead going into hiding in the Topsia neighborhood of the city.
He was located and arrested on Ripon Street in Kolkata during a coordinated effort by both police forces.
The individual has been identified as Mohammad Shorab, currently serving a life sentence.
Authorities confirmed that he is convicted of numerous murders.
A senior Kolkata Police official stated, "Today, we assisted the Delhi Police in a raid requested by their Special Cell. After extensive searching and technical support, one Shorab (38) was apprehended from a residence on Ripon Street. He originates from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh."
