New Delhi, Jan 29 (NationPress) The Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Praveen Sood, emphasized the necessity for the group of 134 newly appointed Sub-Inspectors to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their investigative practices and to foster a culture of lifelong learning, as the field of policing presents ever-changing challenges without a definitive curriculum.

While addressing the newly graduated Sub-Inspectors at the CBI Academy, Sood underscored the pivotal role of technology and AI in contemporary investigations.

He urged the officers to utilize technology—especially AI—as a means to enhance and expedite investigations, particularly in managing extensive digital datasets, while reiterating that technology serves as a supportive tool rather than a substitute for human judgment.

Sood expressed his pleasure regarding the enhanced representation of women within the current cohort, which includes 18 female officers.

He noted that this is the largest Sub-Inspector group in the CBI Academy's history, reflecting the increasing gender diversity within the organization.

The Academy has recently been awarded a five-star rating by the Capacity Building Commission for its commitment to training excellence and institutional standards.

During the ceremony, the CBI Director presented medals and trophies to the top performers among the trainees, acknowledging their outstanding achievements.

Satyavarat Singh received the DP Kohli Award for Best All-Round Sub-Inspector Trainee and the DCBI Trophy for Indoor Studies.

Shekhar Baliyan was awarded the John Lobo Trophy for Best Outdoor Performance, while Rakshit Kumar received the CBI Academy Trophy for Dedication and Exemplary Conduct.

The Passing Out Parade marked the culmination of rigorous training undertaken by the 134 Sub-Inspectors since their induction on May 15.

The trainees received comprehensive instruction in legal and investigative skills, tackling anti-corruption cases, various conventional crimes, intelligence collection, economic offenses, cyber crime, bank fraud, mobile forensics, forensic medicine, and forensic science.

This training was complemented by field experiences and visits to numerous institutions, including CBI branches, courts, local police stations, NFSU, AIIMS, and SEBI, aimed at providing insights into the operations of the CBI and associated organizations.

The foundational course was designed to instill the highest levels of professional integrity, respect for human rights, and a strong sense of discipline among the trainees.

On this occasion, Sood also inaugurated the new “Training and Research in Advanced Cyber Evidence” (TRACE) laboratory at the CBI Academy.

This facility will serve as a dedicated Digital Scenario and Response Laboratory focused on enhancing the practical skills of officers in Cyber Crime Investigation, digital forensics, and electronic evidence management through real-world scenarios.

The lab emphasizes hands-on, scenario-based training, preparing Investigating Officers for realistic cyber-crime situations and guiding them through the entire process of digital evidence handling, from seizure to courtroom presentation.
