Bokaro, March 26 (NationPress) A squad from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) encountered an attack on Wednesday while executing a raid at the home of a bank recovery agent in the Harla police station region of Bokaro district, Jharkhand. Three officers were injured during the incident.
The raid followed a grievance filed with the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch in Dhanbad by a local resident.
The complaint detailed that the villager had secured a loan from Gramin Bank for a tractor purchase. After failing to repay the loan, the tractor was confiscated. Despite settling the dues later, the recovery agent, known as Dhanraj Chaudhary, allegedly declined to return the tractor, instead demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000.
Responding to the complaint, the CBI team arrived at Dhanraj Chaudhary’s residence in Sector 9 on Wednesday for interrogation. During the operation, officials searched the site and confiscated various documents.
Tensions rose after CBI officers questioned Dhanraj and secured him in their vehicle, prompting further inquiries about the seized documents.
A dispute erupted between Dhanraj and the CBI officers, attracting the attention of nearby residents. Soon, a crowd amassed and attacked the CBI team, resulting in injuries to three officers.
In relation to this case, the CBI also raided the home of Sushil Chaudhary, who is believed to have the seized tractor. However, he was not present and is currently on the run.
Sources indicate that Dhanraj Chaudhary has been apprehended by the CBI.
Dhanbad ASP P.K. Jha confirmed the arrest and noted that an investigation is ongoing.
Anil Kashyap, the officer-in-charge of Harla police station, mentioned that an FIR has been registered based on a formal complaint from the CBI team. Efforts are underway to identify the assailants, and legal measures will be pursued against those responsible.
