New Delhi, April 27 (NationPress) As the ‘Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik’ (UDAN) initiative celebrates its remarkable eight years this Sunday, it stands as a beacon of inclusive progress. Affordable air travel is no longer exclusive to metropolitan areas; it has significantly reached Tier – II and Tier – III cities.
Today, flying is not just for the affluent; numerous individuals who once found air travel financially out of reach are now embracing it thanks to the UDAN program.
Mukesh Kumar, an Aligarh farmer, recently realized his lifelong aspiration of taking his parents on their inaugural flight under the UDAN scheme. He arranged a journey to Ayodhya for Ram Lalla’s darshan, earning praise from the local community for organizing this special pilgrimage for his parents.
This touching tale was shared by ‘Modi Story’, a well-known social media platform on X, where Mukesh recounts how his dream came true, thanks to the Modi government’s UDAN initiative.
Mukesh secured air tickets at an astonishing base fare of Rs 99/- and flew his parents from Aligarh to Lucknow, and then to the revered Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Importantly, it was on April 27 that the UDAN program marked its inaugural flight in 2017, connecting Shimla to Delhi.
Mukesh, a resident of Aligarh, expressed that he had always dreamed of taking his parents on a flight while working in his fields. He previously inquired at the airport but lost hope when he discovered the steep costs.
“Upon learning about the UDAN scheme, which enables unforgettable air travel for ordinary citizens like us, I seized the opportunity and took my parents on a flight. I am immensely grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he stated.
The inspiring story of Mukesh and his parents, as shared by the ‘Modi Story’ platform, illustrates how the aspirations of everyday people are becoming realities.
“It embodies PM Modi’s vision, where even those in Hawai chappals can soar in hawaai jahaz,” it remarked.
The UDAN initiative, launched in 2016, aimed to democratize aviation, making air travel accessible to the masses, which was once deemed a luxury.
Over the years, this flagship government initiative has reshaped the regional connectivity landscape of the country. By connecting the skies between Bharat and India, it has transformed the dream of affordable air travel into a reality for millions and brought remote areas onto the national aviation map.
