Srinagar, Nov 28 (NationPress) The Economic Offences Wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch announced on Friday that it has submitted a chargesheet in the court, leading to the judicial custody of two individuals.

A statement from the Crime Branch disclosed, "The Economic Offences Wing has presented a chargesheet before the Hon'ble Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Anantnag, against Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, son of Ali Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Babapora Qazigund, Tehsil Devsar, District Kulgam, and Mohammad Yousuf Dar, who lives in Khandipahari, Harnag, Anantnag.

"The case arose from a complaint indicating that Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, while acting as Patwari Halqa Khandipahari Anantnag, allegedly engaged in a criminal conspiracy with the complainant's relatives to deceitfully mutate land associated with Khewat Nos. 05 and 07 at Khandipahari Harnag.

"This was executed despite the land being the subject of litigation and a status quo order issued by the Hon’ble Court, which was accurately reflected in revenue records," the statement noted.

The investigation revealed that the Patwari hid essential facts, aided in the sale of a segment of the disputed land, and created fraudulent mutations.

Additionally, Mohammad Yousuf Dar was found to possess a fake and forged gift deed allegedly executed by his mother.

"The supposed witnesses to the deed have denied their involvement. The complainant asserted that the Patwari solicited payment for providing revenue extracts, yet no departmental action was taken despite appeals to senior revenue officials," the statement elaborated.

Following inquiries, the allegations were found to be prima facie substantiated, resulting in the registration of FIR No. 45/2015 under sections 420, 468, 471, 120-B RPC, and 5(2) PC Act at Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir.

After a comprehensive investigation, the chargesheet is now submitted for judicial evaluation.

During the proceedings, the court has remanded the accused Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat and Mohammad Yousuf Dar to judicial custody.

"The Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Kashmir is committed to ensuring that fraudsters and economic offenders face justice, and urges the public to stay alert against such fraudulent actions," the statement concluded.
