Raipur, March 2 (NationPress) In a cabinet meeting on Sunday, the Chhattisgarh state cabinet has sanctioned the new excise policy for the fiscal year 2025-26, along with amendments to labour laws, including the Industrial Dispute Act 1947 through an amendment bill, and enacted the new industry policy for 2024-2030.

Under the new excise policy, a total of 674 liquor shops, including premium ones, will continue operations as needed. The pricing for local liquor will remain consistent. The Chhattisgarh State Beverages Corporation Limited will oversee the wholesale procurement and distribution of foreign liquor. While the existing infrastructure development fee on liquor will not change, the additional 9.5 percent excise duty on retail foreign liquor sales will be removed.

The cabinet also ratified the state-level committee’s suggested rates for paddy and rice transportation under the support price scheme for the Kharif marketing years 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25.

In another significant resolution, the cabinet has authorized amendments to various labour regulations, such as the Factory Act 1948, Industrial Disputes Act 1947, and Trade Unions Act 1976.

A bill titled the ‘Chhattisgarh Labour Laws Amendment and Miscellaneous Provisions Bill-2025’ will be presented during the ongoing Budget session of the state Assembly. The draft of the Chhattisgarh Registration (Amendment) Bill-2025 was also endorsed by the cabinet on Sunday.

The industry policy for 2024-2030 will come into effect in the state starting from November 1, 2024. To better assist investors and current industries, the cabinet approved an amendment bill to the existing Chhattisgarh Government Purchase Rules-2002.

The cabinet also sanctioned the draft of the ‘Chhattisgarh Lok Parisar Bedakhli (Samshodhan) Vidheyak (Public Premises Eviction Amendment) Bill-2025’ and the draft of the Chhattisgarh Registration (Amendment) Bill-2025, adhering to the Registration Act of 1908.

Additionally, the state cabinet resolved to disband the empowered committee for e-procurement to enhance the ease of doing business.

The cabinet has approved the creation of a new member position in the Chhattisgarh State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission to streamline pending cases and guarantee timely hearings of consumer issues.

Furthermore, the cabinet has agreed to a one-time relaxation of the five-year qualifying service requirement to fill nine vacant roles in the registration department for the uninterrupted operation of registry offices.

The governance and convergence department has been authorized by the cabinet to sign a MoU (memorandum of understanding) with the Vyakti Vikas Kendra (Art of Living) for creating livelihoods and promoting rural welfare in Chhattisgarh.
