Raipur, April 7 (NationPress) The Chhattisgarh Police have announced the resolution of a horrific crime that took place in Durg town during a Kanya Bhoj feast coinciding with Navratri and Ram Navmi, where a six-year-old girl was reportedly sexually assaulted and murdered.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sukh Nandan Rahore, stated that the victim's body was hidden in a car to mislead investigators, but the police later uncovered her lifeless form, which exhibited signs of electrocution and other injuries.

Authorities arrested the suspect, identified as the girl's biological uncle (her father's sibling), who allegedly perpetrated the crime at his home while the child's grandmother and aunt were absent.

Initially, suspicion fell on the car's owner, but further investigation, including technical evidence and interrogations, revealed the uncle as the true culprit.

“The accused is currently in custody, and the investigation continues,” the officer remarked.

This case has incited significant outrage within the local community, prompting protests, vandalism, and road blockades, as the family and community demand justice for the young victim.

On the morning of the incident, during a religious feast known as Kanya Bhoj at a temple in Durg, Chhattisgarh, the six-year-old girl attended the event with other children.

This feast was part of the Navratri and Ram Navmi celebrations, traditionally held at temples and homes in accordance with Hindu customs. Tragically, the girl went missing later that day, prompting her family to report to the police.

Despite a thorough search, her lifeless body was found late Sunday night in a car parked near the residence of a 28-year-old man.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sukh Nandan Rahore, indicated that the investigation uncovered that the girl had endured horrific violence, with her body showing evidence of electrocution, cigarette burns, and various injuries, including scratches on her face and blood on her lips and nose.

Initially, five individuals were detained for questioning, including the car's owner, due to the body’s location. However, further interrogation and technical evidence led to the identification of the girl's uncle as the offender.

According to police reports, the uncle supposedly took advantage of the car's unlocked door to conceal the child’s body, attempting to misdirect blame to the car's owner.

The post-mortem findings and the uncle’s confession have affirmed his role in the crime.
