Raipur, April 9 (NationPress) The family of a six-year-old girl who was tragically raped and murdered in Durg district, Chhattisgarh, three days ago, has dismissed the police's narrative. They are insisting on a comprehensive investigation and have stated their refusal to accept any monetary compensation instead of justice.

The heart-wrenching incident unfolded on Sunday within the jurisdiction of the Mohan Nagar police station, where the young girl had visited her grandmother's residence to participate in a Navratri festival. Her lifeless body was later found inside a vehicle parked nearby.

Authorities have apprehended a young man linked to the case, asserting that he has confessed to the crime. However, the family contends that this confession was obtained under duress and that this individual is not the genuine perpetrator.

They assert that the vehicle in which the body was discovered belongs to another person, whom they believe to be the actual offender—yet this individual has neither been interrogated nor detained.

The family has criticized the police investigation as biased and incomplete, demanding that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) take over the case. They have expressed their readiness to take any necessary measures to achieve justice for their daughter.

"I seek justice for my daughter. I want to see the perpetrators punished. I am not interested in money," stated the mother of the child.

A delegation from the Congress party visited the mourning family on Wednesday, acknowledging that their concerns are serious and deserve a detailed and unbiased inquiry. They alleged that the person the family suspects has been treated leniently and that the family itself is facing intimidation from authorities.

The family accused the police of harassment and mental pressure, claiming they are being repeatedly called to the police station and threatened. They expressed being in a state of profound shock due to their treatment.

Earlier on Tuesday, members from various social organizations protested in Durg. The opposition party, Congress, also organized demonstrations in Raipur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, and other areas, burning effigies of the Chief Minister to voice their discontent over the handling of the child's rape and murder.

In a related development, lawyers have declined to represent the accused. Neeta Jain, President of the Durg Bar Council, described the act as heinous and inhuman, announcing that they will not provide representation for the accused.
