Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Unveils New Policy for Non-Resident Odias

Bhubaneswar, Jan 10 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Friday that the state government is set to create a dedicated policy aimed at Non-Resident Odias (NROs) to foster their active involvement in Odisha's journey to become a prosperous state.

During a session with NROs on the final day of the three-day 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention, CM Majhi stated that a designated Minister from the state government will be responsible for addressing the challenges and concerns of the NROs.

He emphasized that this Minister will also be tasked with liaising with the Odia diaspora regarding their ideas and issues for the advancement of Odisha.

The Chief Minister assured attendees that a special policy for the Odia diaspora would be introduced shortly.

Furthermore, he declared that the Department of Language, Literature, and Culture will serve as the nodal department for this initiative.

While discussing with the NROs, the Chief Minister conveyed his vision, highlighting the state government's commitment to engaging with the Odia diaspora.

He shared insights into Odisha’s development journey, referencing the Odisha Vision Document 2036.

"Odisha has now embarked on a journey on the road towards prosperity. You live in different countries. Many of you are successful industrialists, professionals, and technocrats. So, your participation in this journey is very important," stated CM Majhi.

The Chief Minister further noted that the NROs have become a vital bridge between India and their host countries, promoting both Indian and Odia culture and traditions abroad.

He acknowledged that NROs are dedicated to the development and preservation of Odia identity, even while living outside India. He referred to them as the triple engine of Odisha's development, complementing the double-engine government.

CM Majhi invited them to actively participate in the Utkal Odisha and Make-in-Odisha initiatives to further propel the state's growth.

He also urged NROs to share their insights and suggestions for building a prosperous Odisha.

Mohan Majhi mentioned that air connectivity in Odisha has significantly improved due to the collaboration with the Central government in recent times.

He informed the group that Odisha is also planning to introduce flights to Kuwait and Qatar soon. This meeting was a noteworthy milestone, providing a platform for NROs to connect and collaborate with the government.

Notable attendees included Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, and various ministers from industries, health, and higher education, along with the BJP’s state president.
