'Language Dignity is Key': Chirag Paswan Criticizes Mamata Banerjee's Comments on PM Modi
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 23 (NationPress) Union Minister Chirag Paswan criticized Mamata Banerjee on Monday for her comments aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the necessity for political figures to uphold respectfulness during the election period.
“With elections approaching, it’s crucial to ensure the dignity of language is preserved. During the Bihar elections, we witnessed how even the Prime Minister's mother was subjected to insults. The opposition, in its eagerness to secure votes, is prepared to compromise all decency, which is unacceptable...” stated Paswan.
This criticism arises amid rising political tensions as upcoming elections draw near, with numerous BJP leaders condemning Banerjee’s statements.
BJP Bihar President Sanjay Saraogi also lambasted the West Bengal Chief Minister, remarking, “Mamata Banerjee’s policies, which seem to be both arrogant and divisive, reflect her demeanor. It appears she senses her political fate in Bengal is dwindling, evident in her tone and expressions...”
In agreement, Bihar Minister Ram Kripal Yadav asserted, “Mamata Banerjee will struggle to retain her power in West Bengal, regardless of her efforts. The anti-incumbency sentiment is significantly against her, and I predict a loss for all her MLAs. It may be wise for her to resign...”
In West Bengal, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh also responded vehemently to Banerjee’s remarks.
“Mamata Banerjee labels PM Modi a ‘Ghuspaithiya’. While people like Yusuf Pathan and Shatrughan Sinha may visit, they are not ‘Ghuspaithiyas’. Those coming from Bangladesh, such as the Rohingyas, also do not qualify as ‘Ghuspaithiyas’...” he stated to IANS.
He added, “CCTV cameras will be installed extensively, with the Election Commission monitoring closely. Why is Mamata Banerjee implementing CCTV? To address the conflicts and conspiracies occurring within her party.”
The political controversy stems from remarks made by Banerjee at an Eid gathering, where she labeled PM Modi the “largest infiltrator” and accused the central government of attempting to “deprive” citizens of their voting rights through the SIR process.
While addressing the gathering, she mentioned that numerous names were removed from the voters’ list, stating, “Many of your names have been deleted from the voters’ list, prompting me to run from Calcutta High Court to the Supreme Court of India in Delhi.”
This exchange underscores the escalating rhetoric between the ruling party at the Centre and opposition leaders as the elections loom closer.
