Is Mamata Banerjee Acting Like Tughlaq and Oppressing Hindus Like Aurangzeb?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 18 (NationPress) Union Minister Giriraj Singh sharply criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday, alleging that she is acting in an arbitrary manner and catering to a specific community for her political advantage.
“Mamata Banerjee is behaving like a Tughlaq by issuing unjust orders and oppressing Hindus akin to Aurangzeb. With the backing of Bangladeshi Muslims, she aims to maintain her hold on power. However, the Hindus of West Bengal are now aware of her tactics. Those who refer to her as a lioness are mistaken; she is a traitor,” remarked Singh.
He continued to assert, “She fosters the presence of infiltrators from Bangladesh, attempting to transform West Bengal into another Bangladesh. She has endorsed a traitor like Humayun, who is constructing a Babri mosque. If she truly desired otherwise, that inauguration would not have occurred. Yet, she invokes the name of Mahadev. Mahadev will bring retribution for your misdeeds.”
Singh's comments were a response to Banerjee’s denunciation of the Election Commission, labeling it a “Tughlaqi Commission” and claiming the poll body is unfairly targeting West Bengal to curry favor with the BJP during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the election-bound state.
During a press conference, Banerjee stated, “The EC has devolved into a Tughlaqi Commission under the influence of a political party,” adding, “Bengal is being unfairly targeted by the Election Commission to appease the BJP.” Her reference to “Tughlaqi” alludes to the unpredictable reign of Delhi Sultan Muhammad bin Tughlaq.
The Trinamool Congress leader also pledged to safeguard state officials facing repercussions from the election commission. “We will provide 100 percent protection to Bengal government officers penalized by the EC,” she said.
Simultaneously, JD(U) national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad criticized Banerjee, asserting, “The public has lost faith in Mamata Banerjee, and her return to power appears improbable. She is attempting to obfuscate reality with irrelevant matters, but she will not prevail. The situation in West Bengal is chaotic.”
This exchange signifies an intensification of political discourse in West Bengal as elections approach.
