New Delhi, April 12 (NationPress) Union Minister Giriraj Singh expressed strong disapproval of the recent turmoil in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, labeling it a "heart-wrenching" event that underscores the declining law and order under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee.
Speaking to the press, Singh accused the Hindu community in Bengal of being systematically threatened and compelled to leave the region.
He stated, “The occurrence in Murshidabad indicates that Hindus are being coerced into leaving Bengal. Mamata Banerjee must clarify—should the Hindus of Bengal abandon their home? This is the reality they have created.”
In a sharp critique of Mamata Banerjee, the Union Minister remarked, “I repeatedly say, when the protector becomes the destroyer, who will protect? Mamata Banerjee leads the government of Bengal. For her, the vote bank is not solely composed of Muslims. It is her duty to ensure the safety of Hindus as well.”
The violence in Murshidabad, reportedly related to a conflict over Waqf Board properties, has ignited political backlash, with the BJP accusing the Trinamool Congress government of catering to minorities while neglecting the security of the majority Hindu populace.
Singh also took aim at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, claiming that he is trying to instigate a similar situation in Bihar by pledging to revoke the Waqf (Amendment) Act if he gains power.
“He has yet to assume power, and already the Hindus of Bihar are facing intimidation,” he charged.
He continued, “Tejashwi Yadav aims to bring the same disorder to Bihar. If this is your approach, the populace will never allow you to assault them. Who safeguards the Constitution? Everyone is a citizen. The government bears the heaviest responsibility.”
