Is BJP Right in Accusing CM Mamata of Political Polarisation?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, Dec 6 (NationPress) The BJP has raised serious allegations against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claiming she is playing with fire by subtly utilizing the now-suspended Trinamool Congress legislator Humayun Kabir to polarise the sentiments of the populace in the state.
Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP's Information Technology cell and the party’s central observer for West Bengal, made this claim through a social media post on Saturday afternoon. He stated that disturbing reports from Beldanga, located in Murshidabad, indicate that Banerjee is exploiting the 'suspended' TMC MLA Humayun Kabir to manipulate Muslim sentiment for her political advantage.
Malviya described how Kabir's followers were reportedly seen transporting bricks to construct what he alleged could be a Babri Mosque. Furthermore, he accused the West Bengal Police of supporting Kabir by providing security for this initiative.
He further emphasized that Beldanga is recognized as one of the most communally sensitive areas in the state, which has a notorious history of violence. He warned that any organized disturbance in this area could potentially block NH-12, a crucial route linking North Bengal with the rest of the state. Such an event could have dire ramifications for law enforcement, mobility, and not only the state's internal stability but also national security.
Malviya remarked that this mosque initiative is not a genuine religious endeavor but rather a political maneuver intended to ignite emotions and consolidate electoral support.
He cautioned that rather than benefiting the community, such actions pose a significant threat to the stability of Bengal, risking increased tensions and possibly tearing apart the state's social fabric. He concluded by stating that Mamata Banerjee is willing to go to extreme lengths, even if it jeopardizes the peace of West Bengal.
It is also important to mention that the Trinamool Congress recently announced that they have suspended Kabir for acting against the party.
