Kolkata, July 27 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, has intensified her criticisms against the BJP, alleging that their administration is responsible for the harassment and mistreatment of a Bengali-speaking migrant family.
Her focus is directed at the BJP-led government in Delhi and the associated police forces, which are under the Union government's control.
On Sunday evening, Banerjee posted a video on her social media, where she claimed that a child and his mother, part of a migrant family from Malda district in West Bengal, were reportedly assaulted by police in New Delhi.
"This is outrageous!! Horrific!! Witness how the Delhi Police mercilessly attacked a child and his mother, members of a migrant family from Chanchal in Malda. This violence under the regime of linguistic oppression perpetrated by the BJP against Bengalis is intolerable! What direction is our country heading towards now?" Banerjee expressed in her post.
The IANS has not yet been able to verify the claims made in the video.
The leader of the Trinamool Congress has consistently highlighted the plight of Bengalis facing harassment in BJP-ruled regions and has accused the party of inflicting suffering on migrant workers from Bengal.
Interestingly, Banerjee will launch her language movement campaign against the BJP from Birbhum on Monday. She has also suggested that the Election Commission is preparing for a Special Intensive Revision of the voter list in West Bengal ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
She argues that this is an attempt to intimidate Bengalis and instill fear among them. Conversely, the BJP has criticized Banerjee's remarks, claiming that her movement seeks to shield Rohingyas and Bangladeshi Muslims who have illegally entered the nation, driven by vote-bank politics.
